| Spay/Neuter Surgery |
$35 |
Includes physical exam, pain medication and overnight stay. No extra charge for cats in heat or pregnant. Grants discounting this surgery may be available in your area. |
| Rabies Vaccine | $10 |
Required for cats older than 12 weeks or 3 pounds, unless current on this vaccine (vet certificate required). Rabies is caused by a virus that affects the brain through the central nervous system. Transmission is usually through a bite or scratch from a rabid animal's saliva. Disease is seldom reversible and usually fatal. |
| Distemper Vaccine | $10 |
Distemper (FVRCP) immunizes against three common viruses: Feline Viral Rhinotracheitis (FVR) and Calici Virus (C), which cause chronic upper respiratory infections; and Panleukopenia (P), which can be fatal. OAR recommends this vaccination for all cats and kittens. |
| FIV/Leukemia Test | $20 |
Tests for Feline Immunodeficiency Virus (FIV) and Feline Leukemia (FeLV). FIV interferes with and causes complications for a cat's immune system. FeLV is a cancer of the blood cells transmitted through bodily fluids. Often fatal. |
| Leukemia Vaccine | $10 |
Requires that the cat first test negative for FeLV. If the cat tests negative for Leukemia, the cat will receive its first FeLV shot. The vaccine requires an additional booster shot three weeks later, which must be done at your private veterinarian's office since OAR does not do booster shots. |
| Deworming & Pests | $5 |
Topically applied medication (Revolution) that kills and controls adult fleas, ear mites, roundworms, and hookworms. Safer than most medications available in grocery stores that can potentially harm or even kill your pet. |
| Microchipping | $20 |
Small chip implanted under skin during surgery, vet or shelter can find out your name, address and phone number from it in case your cat is lost. |
